Updated: Nov 5
Diwali is around with all the festivity, brightness and celebrations. Each day of the 5-day festival of Diwali unfolds a variety of celebrations and rituals aimed at bringing in the divine blessings of lord Ganesh and Mahalakshmi but essentially at a deeper level all festivals are an innate way to connect to our inner self and develop our consciousness.
The festival of Diwali is synonymous with Mahalakshmi Puja, we know Mahalakshmi is the goddess of wealth, wealth which is both material and spiritual. Traditionally we all clean and decorate our homes, stall all renovations close to diwali, so that our homes are welcoming to the grace of goddess Lakshmi. The corners unturned for the year, get a breath of fresh air. We try to light up every overlooked corner of the house making it lively. The celebration of Diwali is for us as much it is for our homes.
The day therefore is significant in illuminating the inner self also, by transcending darkness and negativity which may be possible by adopting meditation for spiritual awakening and removing negativity.

This unique experience of Transcendence easily possible with th twice daily practice of Transcendental Meditation not only brings about mental clarity, stress relief and positivity but also helps us enliven our consciousness and cultivate it for personal growth and self-realization, the ultimate intent of celebrating festivals.
So as we light diyas and candles in our homes, lets also embrace inner light with Transcendental Meditation, as that will help us remove mental and emotional darkness, stagnation and negativity.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on light and consciousness
"Don’t fight the darkness, bring in the light and darkness disappear"
Maharishi explains in this quote, that just as darkness looming even from a long time can be immediately dispelled just by lighting a light, negativity finds its way out as soon as positivity or satva are brought it. A tiny light is enough to challenge the darkness and thus embracing light is a wise option.
During the festive days of Diwali, the teachings of consciousness by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji and the practice of Transcendental Meditation naturally bestow divine grace of Mahalakshmi in both aspects of life - spiritual and material, blessing us with prosperity, health, fullness, growth and enlightenment.
