Unlike other forms of meditation, Transcendental Meditation has been intended since ancient times not for hermits and monks living in complete solitude but for practically oriented lay people who need to live in the modern world, cope with various daily tasks, solve problems, and walk “hand in hand” with a rapidly changing world.

You can start practising TM at any age. Children above four (4+) can begin learning to do Transcendental Meditation. However, parent/guardian supervision is compulsory for children under 10.

You can learn Transcendental Meditation in India at an Accredited TM Centre in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Noida, Kochi, Lucknow, Rishikesh or Gurgaon.

Theoretically, you can learn to drive a car without a teacher, but no one does that. Similarly, learning TM from secondary sources like hearsay, books, or the Internet is impossible. During training, a certified TM teacher selects your mantra exclusively for you and explains how to use it correctly.

Transcendental Meditation is to be practised twice a day - 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening. You can practice TM by finding a comfortable place anywhere, including public spaces like gardens, malls, bus stations, etc.

The term 'Transcendental Meditation' was coined by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a physicist by education. Maharishi received his knowledge from his teacher, Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, who at that time held the highest post in disseminating Vedic Knowledge in India. Maharishi further standardised the technique and established the Spiritual Regeneration Movement of India to propagate the method worldwide.
